Creative Writing Grades 6-8

Creative writing plays an integral role in a child’s literacy development. In this course, students will be working with patterns of writing that are common to a good story including introductions, plot structures, themes, character archetypes, and conflict. Students will have the opportunity to create various texts as well as explore and incorporate major themes within their writing. Some ideas for texts include, but are not limited to, a script for a play, a short story, or a memoir.
