These grade bands represent the child's CURRENT grade in academic year 2019-20. Grades 9-12 are equivalent to Years 10-13 in the British Curriculum. These courses are generally aimed at students aged 15-18.

Photojournalism - CANCELLED

How can we, as photojournalists, tell the untold stories of our community? Students will identify themes and topics related to their communities, interview local community members, and capture photos. They will use the interviews and photos to develop photographic essays that visually document local, cultural and social stories. Students will share their photo essays in a digital exhibition.

Global Citizenship Courses

Youth aged 15-18 are the future- but what does that future look like? What are the challenges of this world going to look like, and how can youth become informed advocates for global issues? This class is a rigorous, academic, and yet fun exploration of global issues facing the MENA region in particular, and will deliver concrete research, public speaking, debate and advocacy skills with the opportunity to work with students from around the world, to achieve a practical understanding of what it means to be a global leader. Students will learn about the workings of the UN, and through Model UN, find a rich world of like-minded individuals who want to make an impact as young changemakers.

STEM Courses

Have you ever thought about being an architect? Are you fascinated by the buildings that surround us? In this course, students will virtually explore architecture and key architectural landmarks from around the world. Students will explore software such as Revit Architecture, SketchUp, and AutoCad Architecture and will be challenged in groups to design sustainable and green buildings.

In this course, students will learn how governmental agencies send coded messages, how to decode those messages and break secret codes, how to write their own coded, secret messages and send them for others to decode! Students will also be put on the rational detective hat, in a truth-seeking journey to analyze who is telling the truth and who is sharing false information. By the end of this course, students will have an enhanced intuition, a strong ability to solve riddles and be able to make strategic deductions.

Do you want to be GSuite certified and earn a digital badge from Google for resumes, college applications, and bragging rights? Google Applied Digital Skills is a free online curriculum that can be accessed by individual learners or used in a classroom setting. Project-based units help students practice basic digital skills using Google's G Suite for Education applications (Gmail, Docs, Sheets, etc.). Students watch step-by-step video tutorials, pausing to complete activities. Lesson activities range from creating a budget spreadsheet to planning a trip to conducting research and writing a report. Some coding concepts are also integrated into the curriculum, such as programming a script to look for overused words. At the end of the course, students have the option to take the GSuite Ceritfication Exam.

Pre-Requisite: This class is for competent students motivated to complete the Google Certification Program. Any student who chooses to take the certification exam will be required to pay an additional 135QR at a later stage ( $37 USD.)
