Poetry can be used as a tool that motivates children to become stronger readers, build phonemic awareness and strengthen vocabulary, writing and literary expression. Poetry has many different forms and can be written in many different ways. Through the freedom of writing poetry, students will be able to express their thoughts and feelings in unique ways. Students will explore and learn how to write real, imagined, structured or unstructured poetry. Students will use oxymoron, prose, repetition, and alliteration to compose poetry. This course is repeated over the Summer Camp with enrollment available for Session 1 begining July 5 and Session 2 beginning July 19.

Pre-Requisite: This class is for creative writers. Students must be able to work and follow directions independently.
